Passing the Five Mics TCG Core Exam is your path to officially become a Five Mics Block Runner in your area!
What You Get as a Block Runner
Create Your Own Block
Not every block exists yet — our Block Runners are the ones who build them. If there's no active block in your area, you can apply to start one.
To register a block, you'll need:
A Five Mics Central account
A Fivemics.TopDeck.GG account (don't have one? Create one using your Five Mics Central account)
TopDeck event organizer access (set up once you've passed the Core Exam)
A name for your block
At least 5 players registered on Five Mics Central (including you)
How the block application works:
In Five Mics Central, click the "Create a Block" button on your Profile or click the "My Block" menu tab (note: you must have the "Block Runner badge" on your Profile in order to access this option. Don't see the badge? Contact yo@fivemics.io.
Complete your Block Details, Invite your founding members, and submit your block application (note: all your members invites must be accepted before you can officially submit).
Five Mics HQ reviews your application against the above requirements as well as ensures the Block Details adhere to our trust & safety policy as well as terms of use.
If Five Mics HQ requires you to make a revision to your application, you'll get an email with the revision note. Reopen your app, make the changes according to the revision request, and resubmit.
If everything checks out, Five Mics HQ will approve your block — at which point, your block goes live with its name, roster, and record visible on both the All Blocks page as well as the Leaderboard.
Best way to get approved on the first try:
Ensure your Profile has the "Block Runner badge" (must be an official Block Runner to gain access).
Before creating your block, get your roster already registered on Five Mics Central and committed to accepting your invite.
Choose an appropriate Block Name, one that will get negatively flagged during review.
Once live, your block earns Block Points every season, climbs the Regional Block Standings, and competes in Block On Lock at the end of the season. See the National Battle League page for how BP, seasons, and the Leaderboard all connect. You can also continue to invite more members and expand your Block Roster.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to play at / own a game store to become a Block Runner?
A: No. A store relationship can help, but plenty of Block Runners run their block out of kitchens, campuses, or Discord.
Q: How many times can I take the Core Exam?
A: As many as you need — it's unlimited and open-book.
Q: Can I be a Producer and a Block Runner?
A: Absolutely. They're two separate programs, but nothing stops you from doing both — check out the Producer Network if content creation is also your vibe.
Q: What if I don't have 5 players yet to start a block?
A: Start hosting kickbacks (casual, no-minimum play) to build local interest first. Once you've got 5 players (including yourself) registered on Five Mics Central and willing to join your block, then you're ready to apply.
Q: Who do I contact with questions?
A: Reach out anytime to yo@fivemics.io.
