The National Battle League
Where We Are Right Now: Preseason
Before Season 1 officially kicks off, we're in Preseason — think of it as "Season 0." This is the block-building phase: the stretch where we're getting real, active blocks up and activated before the clock starts on the first real season.
Season 1 begins once we hit 5 official blocks, totaling at least 25 players, across 5 different regions — or by September 15, 2026, whichever comes first.
Why the gate matters: a block only counts once it clears the same bar as always (5 registered players, a name, a photo, TopDeck organizer access) — and requiring 5 different blocks means Season 1 launches as an actual national league from day one, not five blocks in one city calling itself national.
Founding Block status: Any block that stands up official during Preseason gets locked in as a Founding Block — permanent recognition that you were here before Season 1 existed. If you've been thinking about starting a block, Preseason is the best time to do it.
Preseason cyphers and kickbacks still count — you're still building your block's roster, your own match history, and getting your TopDeck stats linked. You just won't see Block Points or Leaderboard ranks live until Season 1 flips on.
How a Season Works
The NBL runs in seasons — 8 weeks each, 5 seasons a year. Every season gets its own name and theme, and every player and block starts the season with a clean slate.
Block Points (BP)
Block Points are how your block earns its standing in the league. Every cypher you play, every new player you bring in, every week your block shows up — it all adds up.
How Blocks Earn BP

Bring a new player to their first event
16+ active players in a week
32+ active players in a week

128+ active players in a week
Maintain a 4-week active streak
Each additional streak week

Bonus BP

+25 points to every block in that metro
Your block's BP total determines its place in the Regional Block Standings, which feeds directly into the Leaderboard (more on that below).
The Leaderboard: 3 Ways to Track the Season
Every season has three scoreboards running at once, all live on Five Mics Central:
Player: Your individual win/loss record against the rest of the community. This is your personal climb.
Block: Your block's Regional Block Standings: BP, total matches, weekly player count, and streak. This is your block's climb.
Community: top-line goals for the entire Five Mics player base. When the whole community hits a milestone, everybody gets rewarded, regardless of block or rank.

Linking Your TopDeck Account
TopDeck is our official partner for running and tracking every Five Mics event — every match you play in a sanctioned cypher flows through it. Getting your stats connected takes one minute:
Create a Five Mics Central account if you haven't already.
Go to https://fivemics.topdeck.gg, and sign in using your Five Mics Central account.
Copy your profile URL (e.g. https://fivemics.topdeck.gg/profile/pG2…) - to find your URL, click the Account icon > Profile tab.
Head to https://central.fivemics.io/profile and open Edit Profile.
Add your TopDeck profile URL to your bio and hit Save.
That's it! Your TopDeck Five Mics cypher history will now sync automatically to your Five Mics Central stats, your block's BP, and the Leaderboard. No manual entry, no double logging.
Blocks: Find Yours, Rep Yours
A block is a local Five Mics community — a city, a district, a school, a street, however your area organizes — run by an official Block Runner. Your block is your team. It's got a name, a home turf, a record, and a roster, and every match you log adds to its standing.
To join a block, first find the block on Five Mics Central, then reach out to the Block Runner (via our Discord Server or IRL).
Curious what it takes to run your own block? Block Runners are the backbone of the community, and we'd love to knight you into one! See the Block Runner page for what the role involves and how to apply.
Block On Lock & The D$C Championship
Block On Lock (Week 7) is your block's own championship — a single-elimination, best-of-5 event run in-person by your Block Runner. Win it, and you're crowned your block's Season Champion, with prizing and a certificate to prove it.
The D$C Championship (Week 8) is the league's capstone: a livestreamed, invite-only, best-of-5 event featuring the season's Top 8 players on the Player Leaderboard. Winners take home real prizing, and their name gets added permanently to the D$C Season Tracklist.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to play at a store to join a block?
A: Not necessarily. Blocks meet wherever works — kitchen tables, campuses, libraries, cafés, Discord Battle Stages, or a store if that's your scene. A store relationship helps but isn't required.
Q: What if there's no block near me yet?
A: Reach out to Five Mics HQ — you may be able to start one. See the Block Runner page for what's involved in creating a block.
Q: Can there be more than 1 Block Runner within a specific region?
A: Yes, the same way as you can have more than 1 sports team or university in the same city. Maybe there's a logistical reason or something else, but either way, having more than 1 block in a region ultimately builds towards the larger goal of building a Five Mics Regional Hub!
Q: What's a Regional Hub?
A: Once a metro area hits 128+ registered players actively running weekly cyphers, it's recognized as a Regional Hub — unlocking bonus BP for every block in that metro.
Q: Does my BP or Leaderboard rank carry over between seasons?
A: Your season stats reset to a clean slate each season, but your lifetime history — matches played, blocks built, milestones hit — is always preserved.
Q: Do I have to manually log my matches?
A: No — once your TopDeck profile is linked in your Five Mics Central bio, matches sync automatically.
Q: What happens when a person runs a Five Mics event on TopDeck but isn’t an official Block Runner?
A: While we would be honored to see it, such events would not be considered “official”, and the results from such events would not be included in the Regional Block Standings.
To be included in the official Regional Block Standings, the person hosting the event must be an official Block Runner, recognized by Five Mics HQ. After which, Five Mics HQ will work directly with the Block Runner to get their block officially set up, included into the league, and tracked within the Leaderboard.
Q: What happens when a player registers for a Five Mics event on TopDeck but doesn’t have a player account in Five Mics Central? Will their individual metrics be tracked?
A: The player leaderboard we use is inside of Five Mics Central. While the win/loss analytics are pulled directly from TopDeck, only the players with Five Mics Central accounts will be on our official Leaderboard. As such, in order for a player’s metrics to appear on the official Five Mics Player Leaderboard, they must first create a Five Mics Central account.
Q: Why don't I see Block Points or a Leaderboard rank yet?
A: We're currently in Preseason — Block Points and live Leaderboard rankings turn on once Season 1 officially begins. Your matches and block activity still count and are being tracked in the meantime.
