Trap Queen: How Tai Built Hardcore's Most Unpredictable Deck
If you've been sleeping on the Hardcore Style, first of all, how? Second of all, you need to check out this new take on the Hardcore Traps archetype.
We sat down with Tai (Five Mics Central profile here) to break down how this Hardcore deck gets in your Opp's head, keeps them off balance, and converts that confusion into straight wins.

The Core Game Plan: Control Through Chaos
Trap Queen isn't about flashy plays or going all-in on one card. It's about making your Opp second-guess every move. Tai's approach is surgical. He's not just throwing traps at the board — he's building a psychological edge. Every trap he cheats in is a question mark. Every hidden card backstage is a mind game.
"The deck may be Trap focused, but it's still Hardcore," Tai says. And that's the key. Traps are the tool, not the identity. Trilly Stick, Camo Savage, and Big Hot Girl are there to make sure you're not left vulnerable if an early trap doesn't connect. You still can do what Hardcore is known to do: BEATDATAHH.
The Trinity: Kick In The Door, Black Air 1s, Push Dispenser

Kick In The Door is the MVP. This card does work whether you cheat it in early or find a way to throw it in mid-game. Just when your Opp thinks they got you beat, this detonates and changes everything. Because its condition also won't be easily met, it can sit in your backstage for a while, powering up your other trap-dependent synergies. This card is a centerpiece for the deck, the hinge that everything else swings on.
How will you cheat that trap in? Throw some Black Air 1s on one of your artists - preferably Camo Savage, who's great at holding it down early game (she's your "Trap Queen" 😍). Are the Black Air 1s expensive? Yeah. But worth every bag, as you get to play mind games while your traps stack up in the back.
Push Dispenser is what Tai calls "the King of Trap Queen," and for good reason. Once you get Push Dispenser into play around Round 4 - especially with a couple traps in play, he becomes an absolute problem for your Opp. He's your payoff card. Every trap you got backstage becomes an investment into making him a game-ending menace.
Staying Focused When It Matters
Here's what separates Trap Queen from "trap gimmick" decks: it has layers. The traps set the tone, but the Hardcore backbone keeps you in control of the actual game tempo. You're not just relying on one card, or one ability. You're building synergy across every play.
Tai's message is direct: "Stay focused, stay on it, and take that W." Don't get caught up in the fanciness. Don't celebrate too early. Every trap is a step toward the finish line, not the finish line itself.

Why This Matters for the Five Mics Meta
Trap Queen represents something we love about Five Mics. While it looks simple, there's actually a bunch of depth to it. It's not overcomplicated or trying to do a bunch of incoherent things. Still, when you play against it, you'll have to respect it. Because you'll be forced to play tighter, think clearer, and make decisions under wild pressure.
